About Me
I am a bilingual (Spanish) part time Master's student living in the centre of Sheffield. I really enjoy working with children, and seeing them learn, grow and express themselves. I think it's such an incredibly rewarding job, challenging as it can sometimes be. I am patient and calm when needed, and have experience using redirection techniques (ESL teacher), but mostly, I am energetic and creative and am a big believer in positive reinforcement. I love doing arts and crafts, experiments and games with kids, and making learning fun and tangible.
My Experience
I have around 3 years’ worth of experience working with children aged 4 to 11 years old in various roles. Most recently, I was an English teacher (ESL) in a play-based learning setting in Spain, leading 2hrs of extra school activities daily and longer holiday camps for children aged 4 to 8. I have also been an au pair to a 5-year-old in Italy, and I have helped provide foster care in my family home. Dating further back, I was a paired reading volunteer to an 11-year-old with learning difficulties during my A-Levels and an ad-hoc babysitter. Though I don't have many years of experience in childcare, I feel like the variety of my experiences has given me a good understanding of children’s needs for care, independence and play.
My Qualifications
Enhanced DBS for voluntary youth work (dated 12/01/24).
Personal development/ emotional education student (in progress since September 2023).
Level 1 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (dated 15/06/22) and experience with food preparation, as a fieldtrip cook and while working holiday camps.
Administered basic First Aid on several occasions, taught as part of my EFL teacher onboarding (01/2023).
Worked as a cleaner for North Yorkshire County Council (2016-2018).
Clean driving license (since 2018).
My Availability
I am available Monday-Friday during the daytime (typical working hours) and after school (except Thursdays).
