My name is Mel and I started childminding in 2004. I have 3 grown children one is also a Childminder, one a Primary School Teacher and the youngest is at university but works as part of the entertainment crew at Haven holidays when not term time. I have 2 granddaughters aged 7 and 3. I am Ofsted Registered and live in Great Sutton, I was graded Outstanding in March 2012 and Outstanding again in January 2016. I offer a relaxed homely environment and designated playroom where the children are well cared for stimulated and encouraged in all they do. Their learning is through play opportunities and experiences and I offer and support these daily. We go out daily to explore the local parks farms, zoo , blue planet , toddler sessions, woods play centres etc as social interaction outside their environment is really important and as a childminder I can offer this unlike a nursery. I am extremely flexible to support parents whatever their hours may be. I work closely with parents to encourage the best from their child, ensuring continuity of home routines where possible. I will keep you closely informed about progress and milestones with daily photos and various paperwork and also welcome parents feedback and suggestions as this partnership is a very important part of successful childcare. I have lots of excellent parent references to show how settled and well cared for their children are and how pleased they are with the service and flexibility I provide.
I take and collect from the Oaks Primary and Brookside Primary I also take to St Marys of the Angels School. I can collect from other schools or afterschool clubs. I Have taken babies/toddlers until they leave to go to a different primary school.
I am fortunate to have 2 Emergency Childminder's available if I am ever ill or have appointments etc. (I have only had 7 days off sick in 15 years) both would know the children as we go out together during the day to increase our safeguarding with 3 sets of eyes on the children allowing extra flexibility for toileting and individual interests. One is my daughter and the other my next door neighbour both of whom are Ofsted Registered.
I am a member of Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (Pacey) and I am registered on this site with" i child" with further details.
I am registered for Childcare Vouchers with several companies including care4, fidelty, computershare and sodexo and also the student childcare grant service.
Mum for 30 years and I have 2 granddaughters aged 7 and 3. A childminder for 16 years and I have looked after over 70 children most for long periods of time only leaving when going to High school , moving home or grand parents retiring and taking over childcare. I have a wealth of experience and knowledge and support parents if asked to whilst being mindful of not interfering. Never had a child that hasn't settled well and been happy as part of my extended family. I keep upto date with all relevant training, and courses that I think will support any child with their learning journey and also all mandatory training. I am extremely flexible working late nights and early mornings to allow parents to work their shifts without worrying about childcare.

I’ve used Mel for a few years now absolutely fantastic! Teddy loves going to Mel’s she caters for all his needs. Made us comfortable from the start and great communication with regular updates on how he’s getting on throughout the day. Mel does so much with the children was amazing to see my son thrive and come on so much. Couldn’t recommend enough she’s one of the best. Thank you.
Mel has looked after Oscar for one and half year and we have seen him develop so much in this time. Oscar come home happy and full of joy from interacting with the other children.
Mel creates our WhatsApp group and send us pics and videos throughout the day which gives us a little window into his world while he is away from us.
We have had to relocate back to Birmingham because of our work and having to gain trust in someone new to watch Oscar will be difficult because Mel is such a kind and trustworthy person who put the children first before anything.
We will miss Mel ourself and always remember how she looked after our baby boy and helped him mature into the cheeky 2 year old he is today.
My husband and I were looking for a weekend childminder for our 2 year old and we came across Mel's profile and we couldn't have asked for anyone more flexible, caring and totally passionate and dedicated to her job. Mel's contact with us when arranging dates to have our daughter is great, not to mention when she is in Mel's care, we are updated on how she is getting on throughout the day and photos to keep us at ease and make us smile knowing she is having such fun. We totally recommend Mel to anyone who needs full-time childcare, part-time childcare and unsociable childcare like ourselves. Mel is very down to earth, has a great energy and best of all, our daughter loves seeing her and we know she is looked after properly!
Mel helped us out when we initially moved to the area with some evening babysitting. She came recommended from a colleague and she was great! Reliable, flexible and we felt comfortable leaving our 3 year old with her.
Mel is an amazing childminder she has been looking after my son for nealy two years and i wouldnt want him to go to anyone else. would highly recommend to any one looking for a childminder my little boy loves going to Mel's i am able to relax knowing liam is happy and safe and being well looked after nothing is ever to much and always there to help. Being single parent is hard trying to work and fit around child care but Mel has been very accomodating and made it easier for me to be able to go to work. So greatful for all she has done to support and help me with Liam.
