My Summary
About Me
I'm Millie, I am from Sidcup with a strong passion for childcare. Growing up with my mum, dad, and brother, I’ve always been drawn to working with children. At 15, I began loaning a Shetland pony and a horse, which gave me the opportunity to support and engage with young children at the yard - an experience that sparked my commitment to this field. For nearly three years, I’ve worked as a childminder assistant in a family run setting, where I’ve developed hands on experience and a love for nurturing children's growth and development. I’ve also regularly provided babysitting for local families, helping to build trusting relationships and furthering my skills in one-to-one care.
I understand how important it is for parents to feel confident and secure in the people caring for their children.
I hold a full UK driving licence, am first aid trained, and I’m just about to complete my Early Years qualification, which has strengthened my understanding of child development and best practice in early education. In my free time, I enjoy being in nature, reading, cooking, and listening to music.
My Experience
Working at the nursery/childminders, my responsibilities are changing nappies, preparing meals, feeding, potty training, planning activities, completing observations and assessments, parent handovers, rest and sleep provision, safeguarding, supporting care routines and supporting development. I have been working here for 2 and a half years, full time - 40 hours a week. I am now reducing a day to nanny.
When I helped out with children at the horse yard my responsibilities were keeping the children safe and teaching them how to keep themselves safe. I also taught them how to groom horses and feed them. I did this for around a year and a half, twice a week.
When babysitting children ages 1 and 3, my responsibilities were feeding them, keeping them entertained with activities, bath time, changing nappies, putting them to bed, brushing their teeth, safeguarding, keeping parents up to date and light housework. This was the same for children I baby sat who were 2 and 4 years old. I did this for around 3 months each ad hoc, until they moved away.
My Qualifications
I am 1 month away from having my level 2 Early Years practitioner qualification.
