About Me

*Just available for temporary/ad hoc days at the moment*

Hi my name is Lizzie and I am a 35 year old graduate. I love working with children and through nannying and working in nurseries I have amassed a huge repertoire of songs and activities ready to share with a family! I enjoyed working in a nursery but decided on a career change to nannying as I wanted to focus more on the care of the children and less on paperwork!

My last role working as a nanny was part time, looking after twins, the role ended when they went to school. I started nannying for them when they were 9 months old. Prior to this position I looked after a little boy who was 5 weeks old at the commencement of the post. As a nanny I feel I am able to not only care for the children but also help out parents! I can get the children ready in the morning while parents get ready for work and then take over all aspects of care until they return. While they are napping I am able to do some household chores such as the washing up, washing clothes etc. In my previous role I also cared for him on some evenings too so am used to the bedtime routine!

I currently live and work full time on my family farm so trips to the farm to see the tractors and the sheep are always on offer!

I have Early Years Professional Status which is the equivalent to a qualified teacher but for children in their early years. I am also a trained sleep practitioner. I am constantly looking to further my professional development and am always looking for courses to attend.

My Experience

I have always known I wanted to work with children and my first job, whilst at school, was working weekends in a Wacky Warehouse!

As I planned to be a primary school teacher I undertook many placements within primary schools, mostly in the Early Years age groups. I also completed a training course in running an afterschool club and in sixth form, alongside a few others, ran an afterschool club in a local primary school.

After leaving school I started university doing Early Years primary education with QTS degree. During the course I went on several work placements as well as attending lectures to learn about childrens development and learning in their Early years. Although I love working with children I decided to leave the course after the first year as I decided teaching wasn't for me.

During all the holidays from university I worked in a Nursery back in Doncaster. During each summer holidays I usually worked about 40 hrs p/wk for just under 3 months. I worked with all the age groups (0-5 yrs) but especially in the baby room (6 wks - 2yrs) and the 2-3s (2yrs old).

After graduating I nannied in the evenings for a family with 3 children (aged 6, 4 and 10 months when I started). This was a sole charge position and included driving to pick the children up from after school club, cooking tea, helping with homework, bathing them and putting them to bed and any other fun activities we could fit in!

As this was only a part time job I left when I found full time work with two nurseries where I worked until I moved back to Doncaster in April 2010. I worked with children from the 0-5 age range.

Since moving back, I have worked at an award winning nursery in Doncaster, throughout the age groups but based in the 3-5s from January 2011.

I was a key person to a number of children in the room and had many responsibilities. These included planning activities according to my childrens' interests, general welfare and liasing with their parents to ensure the children were receiving the best possible care.

I began nannying for a baby, who was 5 weeks old at the commencement of the post, in June 2012 and then left the nursery in August 2012 to pursue a career in nannying. I am looking for another nannying position to work alongside my current hours.

I am also a qualified Early Years Professional (the early years equivalent to qualified teacher status) and a trained sleep practitioner.
