About Me
My name's Georgie. I am 30 years old, a primary school teacher and a mother to a 2 year old. I have a wealth of experience, having worked with children in my career and tutoring, nannied 3 siblings aged 6 months to 4 years and now raising my daughter.
I strongly believe in a gentle approach to parenting and this underpins my interactions with children. I do a lot of reading on parenting and child development to try and be the best I can be for my daughter. I try to understand her as a toddler and her as a person. This approach is one I extend to all children I build a relationship with.
I see great value in time spent outdoors, doing open ended play and sensory/messy play and attending organised activities for children such as forest school, music and swimming.
I joined this service ten years or so ago when I was interested in nannying while at university as I have always loved children, and I left my profile unedited for years but have recently had a few messages on here which have prompted me to rethink. What I would like to offer is limited and would likely only suit a very few families but for families, it could be a great fit! Any childcare I do, I would like to include my daughter, who is bright, chatty, kind and adventurous! I would not take on any childcare relationship that didn’t suit her and where she didn’t fit in. If you are looking for childcare for shorter periods of time (perhaps half days) Monday-Wednesday and happy to have a chat and be flexible with me in our thinking of how that could look, then give me a message.
My Experience
I have varied experience with children from 6 months upwards.
In school, I teach year 5 and have also taught in all other years except 6 (for no particular reason!).
The summer before I did my PGCE, I was a nanny for a 6 month old, a 2 year old and a 4 year old. I took them out and about (around Exeter, to the park, to the library etc) and looked after them in the house.
I have experience doing one-to-one tutoring with 3 children aged 5, 8 and 10.
I have always loved working with children for example choosing to act as a TA for year 7 students while in Sixth Form, running 'Kids Craft' parties and sessions for children aged 4-7 when I was working at an Arts and Crafts shop, babysitting and getting heavily involved with children of a wide range of ages in my family.
I also have a range of professional references, including office work, waitressing and cleaning.
My Qualifications
I have a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in Primary English from the University of Exeter.
I have a first class degree in English Language and Communication from Cardiff University, 3 A-Levels (A* B C) and 11 GCSEs (9 at A*/A).
I have a current DBS check and first aid knowledge (I've done first aid courses but the qualifications have now expired).
I have a wide range of training from my career in safeguarding, mental health, SEN, relations etc.

My Fees
- Nannying from £16.00 per hour (gross)
£16 p/h (this is gross to keep things simpler) for one child aged 2+ with fees to be discussed if more children or for younger babies.
Additional agreed charges for activities e.g. classes, swimming etc., fuel (during the care, not my own transport) and food.
