About Me

My name is Amy. I am 31 years old living in Southwater, Horsham with my partner and our puppy, Shadow.
I have been in the childcare space for around 13 years, doing a range of various roles.
Unfortunately, we lost our baby girl at birth a few months back so I am not currently in work, but I am available for babysitting and more short hours of childcare. Please drop me a message id you’d like to have a chat or ask any questions.

My Experience

I was a nursery nurse on the Neonatal Unit at East Surrey Hospital looking after premature and poorly babies. I absolutely loved this role; it taught me a lot and has given me a lot more experience in looking after and handling very young babies.

I have been a regular babysitting for a family since October 2014 when the three children were 1month old, 19months old and 4 years old. This position is mostly sole charge with the odd cross over time working alongside mum. It has been a flexible role where I do daytimes, evenings and overnights of up to 1 week sole charge whilst the parents go away. This position has given me a lot of confidence in looking after multiple children and juggling daily tasks at the same time such as cooking healthy meals, preparing bottles, looking after them if they’re poorly, doing drop off and pick ups at nursery/school, homework, bathing and putting to bed. I have built an incredible bond with the three children over the years and we enjoy going out and keeping busy; going to the park, soft play, exploring the woods, going to the seaside, going to the cinema and going to watch the aeroplanes! The family now also have a home in Portugal, so their time is split between here and there. As I now don’t see the children as much, we have developed an incredible relationship from a distance, I speak with them all the time and they call me their auntie :-)

I was the Deputy Manager of a local nursery for 1year until August 2017 looking after children age newborn-5years old. I helped to manage the team of ladies and oversee what happened throughout the day. I worked very closely with parents and communicated relevant information about their child's day. Previously, I was a childminders assistant for 16months. The lady I worked for decided to buy a nursery, and I moved over to the setting with her. I worked alongside 2 other ladies whilst childminding looking after a group of children between the age of 3 months - 5 years old. Some days we went out all together to groups and soft play etc and other days we split up and did things separately with the ratioed amount of children we have on that day, I.e 3 children each.

Before this I was a nanny from Feb 2014 - April 2015 when the baby girl was 3 months old at the start of this position. Unfortunately due to the families change in circumstances this position had to end. I made such a good bond with the little girl, and loved watching her grow, change and develop day by day and I still keep in contact with the family now. We had fun going to parks, soft play and feeding the ducks! We also had lots of fun during chill out time reading books, messy play and having lots of cuddles! I prepared healthy well balanced meals for the little girl whilst she was in my care, and the position include all other nursery duties such as nappy changing, weaning, feeding, bottle steralising and putting to bed.

I was an ad-hoc nanny from Feb 2014 - Nov 2014 for a little girl who was 2 years old. This position was anything up to 3 days a week depending on the parents shift patterns. We had a really good bond and had lots of fun doing baking, messy play, going to the zoo's and exploring the outdoor environment! I helped the parents to get the child into a good routine with eating and sleeping and with potty training. This position came to an end as the family relocated up north.

I worked in a nursery from October 2010-February 2014, where I was a qualified practitioner with a variety of children from newborn-5years old. During my practitioner role at the nursery I learnt a lot about children and their development. I planned for each individual child on a daily basis, helping them to develop in all areas using the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) as a guidance. This gave me knowledge of how children should be developing, and understand what different activities can help this. Once I gained my qualification I began to manage the room, keep the daily tasks in order, ensure all was flowing correctly throughout the room with other members of staff and make sure the children were kept safe, happy and were being interacted with at all times. Also, it was my role to communicate well with parents and help them with any questions or concerns that they had.

I also spent 8months from October 2013 - May 2014 helping a lady to bring up her newborn. I done this at weekends and evenings, helping her to settle, gain a routine, feed, bath, love and comfort the baby and also her older 3 year old brother.
