Early Years Outcomes
Early Years Outcomes Explained
We are often asked for guidance on what this or that Early Years Outcomes statement means in practice.
This series of 5 Early Years Outcomes exemplars will help you with both observations and planning for children’s individual learning:
Development Matters and Early Years Outcomes
Chapter 1 – Early Years Outcomes 0 – 11 months
Chapter 2 – Early Years Outcomes 8 – 20 months
Chapter 3 – Early Years Outcomes 16 – 26 months
Chapter 4 – Early Years Outcomes 22 – 36 months
Chapter 5 – Early Years Outcomes 30 – 50 months
It is important to remember that Early Years Outcomes is not a tick list – it is a series of statements to describe what children might be doing and saying at various ages and stages in their early lives.
You should also use parent starting points and your own knowledge of the individual child and child development when making ‘best fit’ judgements about what they can and cannot yet do.
