About Me

I'm an outgoing and friendly young girl who has experience in this area of work. I am from Sheffield and I have a degree in health and social care specialised in working with children, young people and families.Currently working at mylnhurst primary.
I'm organised and hard working. I find it comes natural working with children and absolutely love it.

My Experience

January 2016- present, Mylnhurst prep school, deputy coordinator and teaching assistant.
I am currently working at mylnhurst primary school I am the deputy coordinator of the after school club and morning club, this is where I organise the activities, staffing and food dependent on the child's allergies. I have also been working in the nursery as a nursery practitioner and in the reception class. Whilst working in these areas I have been doing read, write inc lessons and planning different tasks and teqniques for the children. I jave also been working with chris children who need extra support due to my background. In September I will be working in prep 5 (year 5). This will be helping them prepare with there sats.

January 2015-January 2016 Richmond Hill Primary, Behaviour Support worker

Working 1:1 with children with behavioural issues. Concentrations on interventions and paper work with the children to make sure they receive the needs required. It is rewarding and difficult at times. I feel I have gained a lot of experience here by learning how to use the computer systems and inputing data to working with families and the children and working as a team

December 2014-December 2015 Robert Ogden School

I work with both high and low ability autistic/ADD/PDA and Asperger’s children aged 7-19. From this I have strong experience in non-verbal communication using PECs and makaton. I have often had to use my initiative in difficult situations to make the environment safe for the students and to help the teacher deliver lessons and sensory related learning effectively. I have also had to teach lessons to the children whilst the teacher has been away.

While at university I have been on two placements and I have also undertaken volunteering work:

• Killamarsh Day Nursery 2011 - Whilst working at this nursery for 10 months I had to care for and engage with the children to ensure we was meeting their needs, I helped clean the nursery and worked alongside the team. I also learnt different ways of safeguarding for the specific age group of 8 months to 5 years.
• Sheffield City Council 2012 – I volunteered as a family support worker with a charity called CsV. For this I have got an up to date DBS/CRB. By working here I have learnt how to cope in difficult situations with all age groups and use communication skills in gaining trust with my matched family. I use empathy skills to help deal with the issues of my matched family and create solutions for them. This has helped put my safeguarding skills into practise and how allowed me to give something back to my community.
