My Summary
About Me
***PROVIDING EXCEPTIONAL ADHOC, AFTERNOON (From 5) EVENING, NIGHT, WEEKEND & EVENT CHILDCARE SERVICES***
Hello?I’m an experienced nanny, qualified teacher, and a proud, loving mother of three. I’m also a very hands-on grandmother and spend time caring for my beautiful Grandson, which brings me so much joy. One of my children still lives at home with me, and we share our space with my gentle and friendly cats who are very much part of the family.
I currently work for Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) in Children’s Social Services, supporting young people and families through some of life’s more difficult moments. My role helps me stay up to date with safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and child development. I work closely with young people who have experienced different types of hardship and change. This work deepens my understanding of children’s emotional needs and the importance of safe, nurturing care.
I bring over 25 years of experience in childcare and education. I’ve cared for babies, toddlers, and school-age children, from nursery right through to secondary. I understand how children learn and grow through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stages 1, 2, and 3. I also use ideas from the Montessori approach, helping children become confident and independent through hands-on learning.
I’ve supported children with special educational needs (SEND) and English as an additional language (EAL), and I speak fluent Spanish. This means I can help children who are just beginning to learn English feel seen, safe, and included.
I have a good understanding of children’s emotions and behaviour. I believe that all behaviour has a reason behind it. With my background in psychology and counselling, I support children gently and with care, always trying to see things from their point of view.
What I love most about working with children is watching them grow whether it’s their first steps, their first words, or their first big smile of confidence. I believe in child-led play and learning, where children explore the world in their own way and at their own pace. I also bring in elements of forest school learning, which helps children feel free, connected to nature, and proud of their own discoveries.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, Latin dance, and music, which bring energy and joy into my home. I practise mindfulness and meditation to stay calm and focused, and I enjoy gardening and keeping things organised. I love creating a warm, peaceful home where children and adults feel safe, respected, and cared for.
Please take the time to read the following information before deciding on the specific service you require.
What Is a Nanny?
A nanny is a childcare professional employed part-time or full-time to provide comprehensive care for children in a family setting. Nannies often have educational backgrounds in child development, early childhood education, or similar fields, and many have received specialised training in childcare. They are responsible for meeting a wide range of a child’s needs, ensuring their physical, social, and emotional well-being.
Nannies typically engage in various activities that support the child's development and growth. This includes preparing meals, organising educational and recreational activities, and facilitating social interactions with peers. Many nannies also assist with homework, reinforcing learning and providing academic support.
In addition to childcare duties, nannies often help with tasks related to the child’s environment. This can include cleaning and organising the child's room, doing the child’s laundry, and preparing nutritious meals. Some families may require live-in nannies who reside with the family and are available around the clock, while others prefer live-out nannies who commute to the family’s home.
Overall, nannies play a crucial role in a child's upbringing, offering personalised attention and nurturing to help children thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
What Is a Babysitter?
A babysitter is a caregiver who provides temporary childcare services on an as-needed basis. Unlike nannies, who are employed regularly, babysitters are typically hired for specific occasions, such as after school or during evenings when parents need a few hours away from home. This flexibility makes babysitters an ideal option for parents seeking occasional childcare support.
The primary responsibility of a babysitter is to ensure the safety and well-being of the children under their care. This involves actively supervising the children, engaging them in activities, and addressing their immediate needs. Babysitters may play games, read stories, or assist with simple tasks like preparing snacks.
In some cases, babysitters are tasked with overseeing children during quiet times, such as listening to a baby monitor while the children sleep. They focus on maintaining a secure and comforting environment, allowing parents to feel confident that their children are in good hands.
Overall, babysitters offer valuable support for families needing temporary childcare solutions, providing peace of mind for parents and a fun and safe experience for children.
My Experience
I am a passionate and experienced childcare professional, with recent hands-on experience as both a qualified teacher and nanny. I truly believe in helping children grow and reach their full potential, whether they are babies, toddlers, or older children. I bring a calm and steady presence, using proven teaching approaches to create fun, engaging and nurturing learning experiences. I am patient and caring, yet also confident in setting boundaries when needed. My aim is always to support children’s learning and emotional development in a gentle and structured way.
