Hi there! I'm Lily: a recent graduate of Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and prior to that, Durham University, seeking employment in childcare and tutoring. I have recently moved back home to Deanshanger.
A friendly, creative & sensible individual, I enjoy spending time with children and enhancing their development. Previous experience in childcare has cemented my skillset in engaging, educating and caring for children - I find it truly rewarding.
A life-long lover of the arts, I have a great passion for reading, writing and acting. A job in childcare would therefore enable me to pursue my creative ventures in my free-time. Additionally, I am always interested in nurturing children's imaginations, and believe playtime is a fantastic form of creative expression. I remember fondly the happy memories of playtime I have from my own childhood. Building a spaceship under the dining room table and creating a crab-apple picking machine out of twigs are just two examples of many! I am eager to draw upon these experiences whilst I provide attentive, safe and positive care for children.
Another passion of mine is cooking... I am happiest in the kitchen! I enjoy keeping fit and healthy; exercise - whether that be running, swimming or yoga - is always part of my daily routine.
My Experience
I have extensive experience in babysitting, which I did a lot of in my teenage years. Through this, I have learnt how to care, feed and play with young children, and am well-versed in staying alert to a child's well-being at all times.
I also have experience as an academic tutor, and therefore understand how to listen, motivate and engage with children. I believe tutoring is just as much about increasing a child's attainment as is it building their confidence; this is the key to child development, and something I am focused on in all my interactions with children.
Work experience in a primary school taught me how to navigate looking after multiple children at once. Given my highly-organised and attentive instincts, I feel particularly confident in this skill.
Beyond my work with children, I also have wide-ranging experience in the corporate, customer-facing and creative industries. Recently, I completed a three-month Internship at Sotheby's, London. Working in such an esteemed corporation was a demanding, yet rewarding, challenge; it strengthened my time management, communication and administrative skills.
I have extensive experience in customer-facing jobs, having worked within Hospitality for many years. I have worked in a diverse range of front-of-house establishments, each varying in size, responsibility and clientele, but all demanding the provision of first-class guest experience.
Finally, whilst studying at university, I was Artistic Director of a contemporary theatre company, responsible for the administrative, financial and artistic success of the company.
