About Me
I've loved playing with smaller kids for as long as I can remember, and the older I get the more I value kids for their rich imaginations and ability to take in new concepts or adapt to change without hesitation. I love teaching kids new things and learning new ways of looking at old things from them. Just relaxing and making up silly songs or role-playing as a plastic dinosaur on a rampage really makes my day.
My Experience
I've worked as a regular old babysitter for lots of different families since I was 14, too many to keep track of! My first adult job was a 6-week work experience placement at a childcare centre when I was 16. I worked alongside professional daycare staff with children aged 2-4. For the summer holidays between age 16 and 18 I worked at summer camps with kids aged 4-12, and the summer I turned 19 I spent in France working as an au pair for a family with 4-year-old twins. Since then during university I've worked part-time as a long-term childminder for two different families, and spent 6 months working with an after-school care company based in multiple schools around Cork, looking after primary-aged kids. This summer I worked with my university's outreach programme, running campus tours and workshops for underprivileged primary schools in Cork, teaching kids about higher-level education.
My Qualifications
I have multiple Irish child safety certifications and police vetting, and am studying to become a qualified Montessori teacher.
