About Me
I am a young at heart, fun loving Mum whose children have now grown up and now left the family home.
There are many things I enjoy about life including the outdoors, visiting new places and spending time with my family, but the list goes on.
I have been nannying for over 13 years, however I was a childminder before that for 13 years, looking after children from 0-8. I offer a gentle approach to looking after children; allowing them to express themselves and offering guidance according to their age.
I absolutely adore looking after children, watching them develop and being a part of such an important part of their lives; their childhood. Not only that, but I enjoy developing relationships with the families.
I am deaf, I have the cochlear implant which gives 80%. I am fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) but my first language is English. I am unable to take calls however, I can FaceTime, text and email instead. I love teaching BSL to the children I look after as I find this encourages their communication, especially when they are very little.
My Experience
I was a childminder for 13 years before I became a nanny in 2012.
I've looked after a range of children from new born to 8 years old who have all come from a range of cultures and backgrounds.
I take a gentle approach to looking after children and ensure to enrich their childhoods as much as I can. I also have 3 children of my own who are now all grown up and thriving.
I am up to date with my paediatric First Aid courses, having completed the most recent one in January 2024. I have also completed a range of qualifications, including the NVQ level 3 in childhood development and Safeguarding.
I have my level 1 and 2 in British Sign Language which I have found is fantastic with children as I am able to teach them basic sign language from a young age to assist their communication.

Susan worked for us from 2014 to 2021 (with a one year gap while I was on maternity leave in 2017). She played a huge role in our family life, nurturing our daughters and helping them develop and learn, and providing incredible support to me and my partner as parents. Susan feels like close family, and now as a friend continues to be hugely important to us all.
Her empathic, child-centred approach to nannying has helped our children develop confidence, self-esteem, independence and social skills – and a brilliant and mischievous sense of humour! Susan is energetic, creative, and totally reliable and responsible. We feel incredibly lucky to have had her in our lives for all these years.

Susan has just finished working for us as our childcare needs have changed - she has provided us with exceptional childcare throughout her time with us and we would wholeheartedly recommend her.
Susan is a superb communicator, really reliable and is extremely good with children. We will all really miss her.

Susan has looked after our two daughters for two years, since our youngest was one, a day a week. We feel so lucky to have found Susan - the girls love her and view her very much as part of our family. Susan brings a fresh outlook and perspective into our home, which the girls have benefitted hugely. She responds to their needs and moods and is always gentle and loving with them.
We highly recommend Susan - she is extremely genuine, respectful of our parenting approach, considerate and honest. We can not imagine finding a better nanny.

We cannot recommend Susan more highly. She has been working with us since November 2013 as nanny to our daughter for two days a week. Our daughter had just turned one when she started.
Susan is extremely warm and friendly and our daughter quickly came to trust and feel safe with her, and to love her company. Susan approaches her work with professionalism and takes a great interest in our daughter’s development as well as her wellbeing. She is highly safety-conscious and we feel she gives our daughter the best possible care, both physically and emotionally.
We have an excellent rapport and working relationship with Susan and find it very easy to have conversations with her about the things we would like for our daughter. Susan very much takes her lead from us on this point but also makes sensible and helpful suggestions.
Susan always engages our daughter in fun, varied and interesting activities. Susan is extremely hard working and has very high energy levels. When I come home from work they are always deeply engaged in whatever they are doing, whether that is reading, doing something crafty or playing games and laughing together.
She is very responsive to how our daughter is feeling and if she is tired or having an off day Susan, will changes things around and do a calmer activity.
Our daughter loves her days with Susan and afterwards talks happily about the things they have done together.
Susan’s hearing loss has never given us the slightest cause for concern. It really is just not an issue. She is an excellent communicator both with adults and children. If anything, the exceptionally high levels of attention she pays to our daughter – she is totally engaged with her, all of the time - mean that she is even better cared for and nurtured. Susan has also taught our daughter some sign language and we can see that this has really helped the development of her communication skills.
Susan is someone who you can feel very happy and confident with looking after your children. You can leave the house safe in the knowledge that you have the best nanny possible and that they will have a great day together.
