About Me

Hello!

I am a qualified primary school teacher, currently working part-time in a school working one-to-one with a child who has ASD and ADHD, and doing small group maths and English interventions. I also work as a private tutor for children aged between 4 and 14. 11. I have been trained in several different phonics schemes including: letters and sounds, Jolly Phonics, Read, Write Inc. and Monster Phonics. I’ve had extensive training in teaching early reading and maths skills. I am particularly interested in supporting home schooling families and children who have education other than in school. I am also available to do babysitting.

I have two children of my own, a daughter who is nearly 14 (year 9) and a son who is 12 years old (year 7).

Please see the table below for my availability but please bare in mind that there is some flexibility around that depending on where you live so please don’t hesitate to contact me to request different hours.

My Experience

Current
Part-time Teaching Assistant (1-to-1)
This role is enabling me to gain more specialist knowledge about ADHD, mental health, emotional regulation and their effects on learning. I spend the mornings minimising several barriers to learning experienced by a child aged 9. This involves building up a good relationship, adapting class activities and using their interests to engage them in level-appropriate tasks. I also supervise them during unstructured times eg. Break times to support them to engage positively with their peers. I also run small group interventions in maths and English to children who are working below age related expectations.

Private Tutor (2023-2024)

Nursery Practitioner (3 months)
Deputy Manager of Pre-school
As early years education has been a passion of mine since studying for a degree in Primary Education I took some time out of primary school teaching to work in a day nursery for children from 3 months to age 5. I then progressed to Deputy Manager of a Preschool.

2018 - 2022
Primary School Teacher - Well-being Lead
Primary school teacher and leader of well-being. I have been teaching in KS2 but have also engaged with lower school when covering for colleagues, taking assemblies and after school clubs. It is a job with a heavy work load and long hours but extremely rewarding. I have taught classes of up to 34 and have experience with a range of special educational needs including: ASD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, mental health illnesses and sensory processing difficulties. The school is lucky to have a forest school area, pond , large playing fields and sports halls. I have used these facilities to ensure the best educational experience for my pupils.

2009 - 2019
Dance and PE Coach
Freelance dance and PE coach, teaching dance, cheerleading and gymnastics to children from 3 - 16 years. I taught in both the public and private sectors. I ran my own children's entertainer business, taking a break to complete a degree.

2012-2013
Nanny
As well as working part-time as a dance teacher I worked as a nanny on a temporary contract. I looked after 4 children from 9 months to 4 years. We enjoyed messy play, going to playgroups and lots of outdoor activities including mud kitchens, local parks and train spotting!

2008-2012
